After a year of use, I am quite happy with it. For my part, I installed the OS OpenMediaVault to make it a NAS as replacement for my Synology DS211. It allows me to then install other software, such as Plesk and others. The storage bays are easily accessible and the absence of hot-swap limits the risky handling. It is a little noisier than my DS211 but the number of disks is doubled while the volume is not. The LED back-lighting up the HP logo is very bright and could interfere in a living room or a room dedicated to home cinema. In short, a good product, cheap, and scalable for a very wide use. I am very happy of this server on which I installed the OS open source from Synology : Xenology. What happiness for a relatively low price (HP Proliant + 4 HDD WD 4tb). Others have installed over Freenas, OS that begins to develop, and it has plugins similar to the ones from Synology. FredDo not believe as I have believed to read the description of the product that the WD SmartWare software Pro is provided because you may like me be disappointed, if not the device will keep his promises (but it is still the minimum of what was asked of him). I use it since a few months in a file server and time machine, nothing to fault at this level. This little NAS has me very disappointed. In and of itself, when you start with a NAS or that you don't want to take the head, this product can suffice. As for me, its defects I have exceeded at the highest point. Why? Here are a few items that I have decided to return the gear :1) It is an apple system like where the user pays the ease of use by a total dependence on the developments in the software of Synology. My NAS, netgear ultra 2 RNDU2000 (much cheaper!!) purchased in 2012 and which I intended to separate myself once and set up the synology will finally resume service because it is faster, more stable and always visible to all my devices (I bypassed the lack of wi-fi with POWERLINE). Conclusion : this nas may be appropriate if you prefer not to have anything to set it up yourself, but you will pay many times its defects software.. Supplied without the power cable sector is therefore very difficult to assess. All else looks correct at first sight..... but a little heavy.
